Problem
The pharmacy feature was difficult to use and not scalable. Key issues:
- Prescription upload flow was confusing
- Users did not know what to do after uploading prescriptions
- Medicine catalog had no categories and products were listed randomly
- Users could not easily find medicines
- No clear ordering and checkout flow for prescription-based orders
- Users could not reuse previous prescriptions
This resulted in low pharmacy adoption and limited real-world usability, preventing pharmacy from functioning as a reliable core feature.
Root Cause
The pharmacy system lacked structured product organization and user flow design.
- No category system for medicines
- No clear separation between prescription and non-prescription flows
- No structured ordering flow
- Catalog was not designed for scalability
The system was built for initial launch but not designed for usability or growth.
Solution
Redesigned the pharmacy experience end-to-end. Key changes:
- Redesigned prescription upload and ordering flow
- Designed two distinct ordering systems: prescription-based ordering (upload and pharmacist validation) and direct product purchase (browse and buy), ensuring clarity and correctness for different medicine types
- Enabled reuse of previous prescriptions
- Created structured medicine category system
- Organized catalog into scalable product categories
- Designed clear ordering and checkout flow for prescription orders
- Added structured product discovery with featured and category sections
- Enabled scalable catalog and product management
This transformed pharmacy into a usable and scalable feature.
